AmeriTitle Community Spotlight – Ketchum / Sun Valley, Idaho

Posted on | November 15, 2015

The list of year round outdoor adventure opportunities in Ketchum and Sun Valley is long. Endorphin junkies will find plenty of mountains to climb or rocket down on a snowboard. For the more mild mannered, enjoy a gentle gondola ride up Bald Mountain to The Roundhouse. Here you can take in the view while sipping some hot cocoa by the fire.

In the summer time (or year round if you can brave the cold), don your hip waders for a peaceful afternoon of fly fishing in Silver Creek, The Big Wood, The Big Lost, Copper Basin, or the Salmon River.

Winter sports are plentiful, from heli-skiing (yes, this is where a helicopter drops you off at the top of the mountain and you ski down untouched powder) to a quiet snowshoe trek on nicely groomed trails. This area offers adventure options to fit any skill level.

Ketchum is the location of Ernest Hemingway’s last home and his final resting place.  If you want to step back in time to fall in love with the area as Hemingway first saw it, visit the Silver Creek Preserve, where thousands of acres are maintained by the Idaho chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Through successful community conservation easements and efforts, you have the opportunity to visit untouched natural beauty with an abundance of wildlife.

Playing outdoors will keep you busy, but if you are looking for employment in the area, the top industries are not a surprise: construction, arts, entertainment, recreation, accommodations, and food service.

According to Realtor.com in November of 2015, the average listing price for a home in Ketchum is $895,000. The Sun Valley average listing price is $775,000. For additional listing information and property statistics, we encourage you to contact a local REALTOR®.
